Making sure your pet is up to date on all his or her vaccinations is literally one of your best shots at keeping your pet healthy and safe from common illnesses and infections. At Turkey Creek Animal Hospital, we strongly believe in both core vaccinations for all pets as well as non-core vaccines for specific illnesses related to region, age or other factors.

Canine Vaccines:

  • *Rabies: a fatal viral disease that can spread to other pets as well as humans
  • *Distemper: an often-fatal viral disease that impacts pets’ breathing, digestion, and nervous systems
  • *Adenovirus I and II: protects pets from infectious canine hepatitis and respiratory infections that can lead to kennel cough
  • *Parvovirus: most often seen in puppies, this viral disease causes severe vomiting and diarrhea, and can be deadly if untreated
  • *Parainfluenza: another viral respiratory infection that can lead to kennel cough
  • Bordetella: a bacterial infection often known to cause kennel cough
  • Leptospirosis: a bacterial infection common in the state of Florida that can fatally damage kidneys and liver
  • Lyme Disease: a bacterial disease spread by ticks that is widespread in Florida. Can cause chronic arthritis and kidney disease
  • Coronavirus
  • Giardia
  • Canine Influenza H3N8: a flu-like virus that is very contagious between dogs kept in close contact with one another. Vaccination is often required by kennels, groomers, and similar businesses.

Feline Vaccines:

  • *Rabies: a fatal viral disease that can spread to other pets as well as humans
  • *Herpesvirus: a virus that severe and/or chronic upper respiratory infections in cats
  • *Calicivirus: another common virus that causes feline upper respiratory infections
  • *Panleukopenia/Feline Distemper: a viral disease that causes vomiting and diarrhea and can be fatal to young cats and kittens
  • Feline Leukemia Virus (FelV): a deadly, highly contagious virus that causes anemia, immune-system breakdown, and various cancers
  • – Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV): a fatal virus that destroys the immune system and is very contagious between cats in close contact with one-another or in contact with strays
