Happy Howlidays

As the year comes to a close and we reflect on all that 2024 has brought us, we would like to take a moment to thank you for being a part of the Turkey Creek family.

During this holiday get-together season, please be mindful of holiday foods that can be dangerous to our furry loved ones. Some common items include chocolate, grapes and raisins, onions, garlic, alcohol, and foods made with xylitol (a commonly used sweetener).

If you’d like to include your pet in the holiday festivities, consider these pet-friendly recipes:

Recipe: Tuna Pumpkin Biscotti Cat Treats

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat spelt flour (easiest on digestion)
  • 1 can low-sodium tuna in water (do not drain)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons light extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ cup canned pumpkin
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment or waxed paper.
  • Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl.
  • Spread dough evenly on the prepared pan to about ⅛ inch thickness.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, remove from oven, and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Flip the sheet of treats over in pan, remove paper, and bake for another 8 minutes.
  • Turn off the oven, but do not remove the pan. Let it sit in the oven for 1 hour to crisp up.
  • Remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Cut into 2-inch by 1-inch squares. Store in refrigerator or freezer for several months.
